If you're planning to wash a silk garment in your washing machine, keep in mind that this fabric is known to bleed and may cause other items in the wash to get stained. To avoid the risk of bleeding when washing Silk for the first time, it is best to avoid garments that have more than one color in them. Color will not be lost at the end of the washing process. Test for color bleeding by dipping the item in lukewarm water and looking for an inconspicuous area. You'll know if bleeding occurs if the dye is released into the water. The silk can be cleaned at the dry cleaners if it bleeds during the test. Alternately, if the item is a solid color, you can simply wash it by itself. Some smooth finishes may become textured after being washed, so it's important to keep this in mind.
Stubborn stains can be removed in seconds by applying the stain solution or Wash & Stain Bar directly to the affected area. The Wash & Stain Bar tackles oil-based spills, while the Stain Solution removes color-rich stains like juice and wine.
Mix 14 cup of Scented Vinegar with cool water and soak the item for 30 minutes to get rid of the odors.
In order to preserve silk's integrity, hand washing is the best method.
Remove silks from the washing machine as soon as the cycle is complete to avoid wrinkling.
