The iPhone, unlike some Android phones, does not include an AM or FM tuner, so you cannot tune into local radio stations using your iPhone.

However, that doesn't mean there's no hope for you. Apps abound that will let you listen to radio on your iPhone, or at least stream online services that, to all intents and purposes, sound like radio.

Take a look at some of the top choices for iPhone radio apps below.

iHeart Radio

If you want to listen to traditional FM radio, your best bet is probably to use iHeart Radio. This service provides free access to more than 850 stations located all over the United States (in addition to a vast library of podcasts), all of which are available for you to search for or browse through.

The iHeart Radio app is a well-liked and convenient method for using an iPhone to listen to local and national radio stations on the go. The iHeart Radio app can also find local radio programming for you based on your location using your GPS coordinates.

TuneIn Radio

TuneIn, much like iHeart Radio, gives users the ability to stream radio stations from all over the country through a free mobile application. The key difference is that TuneIn also provides a paid app that prioritizes sports over music and news content by broadcasting live games from Major League Baseball, National Football League, National Basketball Association, and National Hockey League.

You get a free trial of TuneIn Premium for one week after installing the app, but after that, it costs $10 per month to continue using the service.

 Apple Music

In the same year that Apple introduced its Apple Music streaming service in 2015, the company also launched Beats 1, an internet radio station that can be accessed for no additional cost through the Music app that is pre-installed on all iPhones.

If you have a subscription to Apple Music, the Music app gives you access to a variety of additional internet radio stations that stream music, and you can listen to any of these stations. On the other hand, you don't have to pay anything to listen to Beats 1, which can be found in the app's Radio tab.

How To Use Other Apps On Your Iphone To Listen To Radio

These three choices only scratch the surface of the available options. There is a good chance that there is an application designed specifically for the radio station that you want to listen to if you do a quick internet search. Fans of National Public Radio, for instance, should download the NPR One app, which allows users to stream a selection of programs and podcasts from public radio stations.

In addition, a great deal of radio programming is now available to listeners as podcasts. If you have a favourite talk radio show that you are unable to listen to in real-time, check your preferred podcast app to see if it publishes the show so that you can listen to it on your own time. If it does, you will be able to listen to the show whenever you want.

Lastly, if you already have a subscription to SiriusXM satellite radio, you should make sure to download the SiriusXM app on your iPhone. This will allow you to access all of the content that comes with your satellite radio subscription.
